Meet the Midwives

Sylvia Boudali, CNM

Hi, I am Sylvia, certified nurse midwife. I am the founder and the practitioner of Cycles Care. I am here to partner with you as you navigate your reproductive health. I believe that reproductive health and sexual wellness should be accessible and empowering for all bodies, in all stages of life.

I have been attending births for over a decade, first as a doula, then as a registered nurse and for the past few years as a midwife. In this decade, I also found my way to supporting people through abortion both as a doula and then as an RN. I graduated with my masters in nurse midwifery in 2021 after completing my training in a variety of Richmond’s hospital based midwifery practices. In this time I continued to fall in love with birth, but also all things reproductive health including abortion care, contraception, well person care, and fertility. I then started practicing as a midwife out of hospital in both the birth center and home.

I strive to marry the holistic and trusting-of-the-process outlook that supports physiologic birth and reproductive processes with the clinical skills and western medicinal tools that I learned while in school and in the hospital. I am nationally board certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB), I have prescriptive authority in Virginia and I am licensed through the Virginia Board of Nursing as an advanced practice registered nurse- certified nurse midwife with an autonomous practice.

I am a mother to two sons, both of whom I gave birth to at home with the support of a beloved midwife. I am a long time Richmond community member, I have been living, working, organizing, and enjoying this city for most of my life. I am a reproductive justice advocate and with that comes my commitment to all the justice work that intersects with a person’s ability to make choices in their reproductive health and in parenting. I love to dance, pray, laugh, enjoy eating delicious foods and I especially love to do all those things with the people I love. I am so looking forward to meeting you and learning about your journey thus far.

More About Cycles Care

Bailey Andrews CPM, LM

Bailey Andrews is a Certified Professional Midwife licensed by the Virginia Board of Medicine. She entered the birth world after the birth of her oldest child in 2014. She dove into her career as a birth doula quickly completing her certification, then becoming a certified childbirth educator, and a certified lactation specialist all in the span of five years.

Her calendar and heart were full from doula clients, childbirth classes and lactation clients, but she felt called to midwifery after her own home birth in 2018.

In 2021 she completed her neonatal resuscitation certification and started attending home and birth center births as a midwife assistant. During that time she enrolled in midwifery school and began her journey to becoming a Certified Professional Midwife. While she attended school, she worked as an administrator at a local busy birth center learning everything she could about running a home birth practice. In October of 2023 she attended her last birth as a student midwife. Bailey also serves on the board of Virginia Prison Birth Project and is passionate about serving her community and everyone in it.

She believes compassionate, evidence based, and patient centered care is the foundation of midwifery.  As a midwife she strives to honor the natural and physiological processes that pregnancy, birth and postpartum are, while balancing it with modern technology and medicine when wanted or needed. The blend of honoring clients wishes and plans and building the trust and relationship needed to help her clients navigate when those plans change is a delicate balance she brings to her practice. Throughout her time in the birth world Bailey has attended over 250+ births, taught hundreds of families childbirth education at various locations, and supported many lactation clients. The families she serves love the calming and grounding energy she brings to appointments and births.

Bailey is also a wife, mom of four, and Richmond native. When she’s not in clinic or attending births she loves traveling and going on adventures with her husband, being a sports mom, trying new recipes, the day to day magic that her kids bring and trying her hardest to balance career and family. Her guilty pleasures include awful reality tv, a captivating new book, crossword puzzles, being outside with her family or planning her family’s next trip or adventure.
